Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the best way to plan a multi-country trip across Europe?

Start with your must-see anchor destinations, then build transport links (train is usually fastest and most scenic) around them — our Europe itinerary guide walks through the process step by step.

Is housesitting a realistic way to travel Europe long-term?

Yes it’s how we’ve spent the past decade travelling. It trades a small amount of flexibility (fixed sit dates, pet or home responsibilities) for free accommodation and a far deeper feel for each place than a hotel stay gives you.

When is the best time to visit Europe to avoid crowds?

Spring (April–May) and early autumn (September–October) consistently give the best balance of good weather and thinner crowds see our Spring in Europe and Europe in the Fall guides for specifics.
