The Not So Mainstream US Destinations
If you think about going to the US, what states do you think about. We could put money on the fact you’re thinking of New York, Florida, Washington etc. But these places are so full of tourists, and just so expensive. Make no mistake, the mainstream ones are some of the best places you could ever visit, but other states just have so much more to offer, even though they are forgotten about. If you’re going to be planning a trip to the USA very soon, and you’ve got a couple of the mainstream states in mind, then we’re going to try and change your mind with some of the different options below.
Georgia is the perfect mix of beaches, mountains, and open plains to go exploring. It is one of the more relaxed states, but there’s still plenty to do to keep you entertained. There’s loads in the way of accommodation, the Savannah Marriott Riverfront being one of them. Plus, it really isn’t that expensive to visit so you could even do it on a bit of a budget.
The capital of Georgia is Atlanta, and that truly does offer an amazing experience. There’s the Coca-Cola world if you’re looking for something a bit different to do, or there’s the walking dead tour experience. Atlanta is afterall where the TV show is based and filmed! If you want to try something fun, hop on one of the many segways that you can rent for a few hours and tour the city. Most of them are guided tours, but it’s still pretty fun to be zooming around and taking in the sights. Martin Luther King also came from Georgia, and the museum named after him is definitely worth a visit if you’re looking to do something a bit more fun.
Nebraska is a pretty fun state to visit, yet nobody thinks of it when choosing a holiday to the US. It has got plenty of national parks, and mainland attractions that would be suitable for all. To begin with, you could head to Omaha’s Henry Doorly zoo. The array of wildlife there is amazing, and it doesn’t matter who you’re travelling with, you’re guaranteed to have a good time if you take a trip. Then you’ve got the Niobrara river which is situated in Niobrara national park. They you can find yourself doing anything from hiking to canoeing, and you’re guaranteed to have some fun.
Iowa is a state right next to Nebraska, and it is just as good. Again, it is a state that is primarily national park based, so it’s perfect for those looking to do a bit of exploring and adventuring. There’s also plenty to do in terms of history, with the Mississippi river museum being one of them. If you would prefer to be out in the open exploring, then we highly recommend you go to the Maquoketa caves for a little explore. When you’re done for the day, there’s plenty of amazing food establishments to fill your empty belly from all of the exploring you’ve done.
